Veterinarian & Medical Director
Dr. McManaway graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2023. After shadowing at Heartland Veterinary Hospital for many years, she returned as an associate veterinarian, bringing both familiarity and a fresh perspective to our team.
She enjoys spending time with her husband, her four pets, and reading in her spare time.
Together, our veterinarians are dedicated to providing thoughtful, evidence-based veterinary care for dogs and cats in Elizabethtown and surrounding areas.
Dr. Paige Fulkerson
Veterinarian (DVM)
Dr. Paige Fulkerson is a veterinarian at Heartland Veterinary Hospital and has been practicing for two years. Dr. Fulkerson earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Lincoln Memorial University.
Dr. Fulkerson brings a passion for veterinary medicine and a wealth of knowledge to our hospital. With her gentle touch and soothing words, our clients and four-legged family members are comfortable and relaxed during their visit.
During her time off, Dr. Fulkerson works with large animals, enjoys hanging out with her four dogs and two cats. Spending time on the lake with family and friends and going to concerts.
Dr. Shelby Highbaugh
Veterinarian (DVM)
Dr. Shelby Highbaugh is a veterinarian at Heartland Veterinary Hospital and has been practicing for five years. She attended Western Kentucky University and Auburn University, where she developed her passion for providing high-quality companion animal care.
Dr. Highbaugh is dedicated to delivering compassionate medicine and treats every patient as if they were her own. She values building trust with both pets and their owners while ensuring each visit is as comfortable and positive as possible.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Highbaugh enjoys reading, fishing, traveling, and spending time with her dogs.
Dr. Brittany Grimes
Veterinarian (DVM)
Dr. Brittany Grimes is a graduate of Auburn University. She has known since she was the age of five that she wanted to help people and their pets.
Because of the desire from an early age to be a veterinarian, she has gained the knowledge and skills to provide compassionate care to the patient while making the client comfortable as she cares for their pets.
Brittany enjoys spending time with family and the outdoors during her time away from the hospital.
Dr. Will Flanagan
Veterinarian (DVM)
Dr. Flanagan has been with Heartland Veterinary Hospital since 1998. A graduate of Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, he considers Heartland’s clients part of his extended family and treats each pet as if they were his own.
In addition to his work as a veterinarian in Elizabethtown, KY, Dr. Flanagan served on the Board of Trustees of the Hardin County Public Library. Outside of the hospital, he enjoys traveling with his wife and children and spending time fishing.

Veterinary Technician
Krista Silvers is a Veterinary Technician at Heartland Veterinary Hospital with over 22 years of experience in the veterinary field. She takes pride in her ability to safely and effectively handle dogs and cats of all temperaments while helping pet owners understand how to improve their pets’ quality of life through proper diet, exercise, and enrichment.
Krista enjoys educating clients and sharing practical ways to keep pets happy and healthy both inside and outside the home. Her experience and confidence help create a safe, supportive environment for patients and their families.
Outside of work, Krista stays very active. She trains dogs, participates in weightlifting, and enjoys activities such as dock diving, canine fun runs and obstacle courses, hiking, and camping.
Cheyenne Duvall
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Cheyenne Duvall is a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Heartland Veterinary Hospital. She has worked in veterinary medicine since 2016 and became a licensed technician in 2018 after attending Owensboro Community & Technical College.
Cheyenne is passionate about advocating for patients who cannot speak for themselves and is dedicated to providing compassionate, attentive care to every animal she treats.

Hannah Butkovich
Veterinary Technician
Hannah has been a Veterinary Technician for nine years. Hannah graduated from Ball State University with a degree in biology.
Hannah prides herself on making patients as comfortable as possible in stressful situations. As a Surgery Technician, Hannah keeps pets safe during anesthetic procedures and spoils them with cuddles when they wake up.
In her free time, spending time with family, going to concerts, baking and hiking are Hannah’s favorite things.
Emma Slaubaugh
Kennel Technician
Emma has recently joined the Heartland team as a Kennel Technician. Emma brings three years of Kennel Technician experience.
Emma takes pride in knowing dog behavior and putting those skills in day care and boarding to ensure every pet is comfortable and safe. This connection allows pets to enjoy and have fun during their time while at Heartland Veterinary Hospital.
Emma enjoys being outdoors, spending time with her own pets when she is away from work.
Kaylee Wagner
Kennel Technician
Kaylee Wagner is a Kennel Technician at Heartland Veterinary Hospital with five years of experience caring for pets. Nicole Shepard is the Professional Pet Groomer at Heartland Veterinary Hospital and has been grooming since 2003, bringing more than two decades of experience to the pets in her care. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, safe, and expert grooming services that prioritize each pet’s comfort, health, and a low-stress experience.
Nicole takes pride in creating a positive grooming environment where pets feel secure and well cared for. Her extensive experience and gentle approach help ensure every patient leaves looking and feeling their best.
Outside of work, Nicole enjoys spending time with her two sons and her boyfriend, as well as her own furry, scaled, and feathered companions. She loves the outdoors and is also a creative at heart — enjoying crafting activities such as quilting, diamond art, and watercolor painting, and listening to heavy metal music.
Margaret Riley
Practice Manager
Margaret Riley is the Practice Manager at Heartland Veterinary Hospital of Elizabethtown and brings 19 years of experience in the veterinary field. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.
